Hummus Veggie Burger

This delicious twist on burgers is the perfect choice for vegans. A Kasih hummus patty in a homemade freshly baked bun is topped with onions and glazed chopped red cabbage for a sweet and bitter balance.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pack Kasih Hummus 135 gm
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon capers
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup purple cabbage, shredded
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Salt and pepper
  • Oil for frying

For frying

  • Burger bun
  • 2 eggs, whisked
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 cup panko
  • Celery leaves

DIRECTIONS

  1. Using a wooden spoon, slowly fold the flour and breadcrumbs into the hummus, add the garlic, capers, parsley, salt and pepper.
  2. Form the hummus mixture into a patty. Refrigerate for 20 minutes.
  3. Coat the patty in the flour, then coat well in the eggs, then finally coat it in the panko.
  4. Fry the patty on both sides until golden brown.
  5. Sauté the cabbage and onions with lemon juice and honey; build your burger as shown in the image attached.
